Simply Helping Others

The mission of the Billy Mock Foundations is “Simply Helping Others”.

The Foundation accomplishes its mission through 2 main activities:

1) Families in Need
The Foundation actively networks with social workers and other members of the community to identify families that are under stress due to a sick child or a sick parent with young children. The representatives of the Foundation will talk with the family and try to identify some ways it can help.  Many times the help is financial but many times it is proving support  by writing get well letters or something as simple as helping to  rake leaves.

2) Encouraging young people to be active in their community.
The Foundation accomplishes  this in several ways. The first is the Pay is Forward Program.  The Pay it Forward Program makes grants to middle school and high school students and challenges them to use the grant as seed money to develop and execute a community service project.

The second way the foundation encourages young people to be active in their community is the  Junior Board. The Junior Board in made up mostly of high school students  and works on independent and supportive projects for the Foundation and hopefully will be the future leadership on of the Foundation. The Junior board manages the annual  ”Bingo Nite” which raise money for a specific cause each year.  (Bingo Nite started as a Pay if Forward Project that was so successful the Junior Board wanted to make it an annual event) The Junior Board is also responsible for developing and managing the social media site for the Foundation.

The third way the foundation encourages young people to be active in their community is by granting scholarships to 8th graders and  high school students who have demonstrated leadership in their community.
