BILLY MOCK loved life; and life, it seemed, loved Billy. Billy was a loving Christian with a dynamic enthusiasm for life. His infectiously positive attitude, ever present smile and vibrant personality literally impacted the lives of thousands of people.
Billy began fighting brain cancer in September, 2005. Cancer brought life as Billy knew it to an abrupt and unexpected end, but it never took his spirit. A champion all the way, Billy vied against death with unbelievable courage and grace until cancer claimed his body in June, 2007; he was 13 years old.
Although Billy experienced great suffering in his short life, he also enjoyed great love. The Billy Mock Foundation was born out of this love by Billy’s family, friends and the community in which he lived. The Billy Mock Foundation, an all-volunteer organization, was established on February 27, 2008, on what would have been Billy’s 14th birthday.
Our motto is, “Simply Helping Others.”
Billy’s memory lives on each time the Billy Mock Foundation brings comfort and financial support to families in the community who are suffering due to an illness.
The Foundation seeks out opportunities to help families in the community as they face life-altering challenges brought upon by illness. Since our recent inception, we have already helped numerous local families by providing financial support during their time of need.
The Billy Mock Foundation is a loving tribute to Billy and his compassion for people, love for life, and enthusiasm for sports. In Billy’s memory, the Foundation also awards scholarships to young students who show that same spirit. The intent is for these students to carry on as Billy would have, had he been given the chance.
In addition, the Foundation encourages children to go out into the world and provide service to others. By receiving grants from the Foundation’s youth-focused “Pay It Forward” program, children in our community have been inspired to exemplify Billy’s spirit by “simply helping others.”
